I think what really REALLY gives this live version so much weight is the triumphant sound within the orchestral arrangement. Considering this was for teenage cancer trust, its almost like telling the cancer “try killing my spirit, you know like REALLY FUCKING TRY, I dare you”. I myself have just made it one month out of the psych ward and every time that chorus plays after hearing Oli say “as loud as you can”, thats when I tear up. I almost feel like my soul is screaming fuck you to all those people who did push me over the edge. Even if I don’t win this battle with mental health, just as Olis friend said, it won’t win if I die, because it won’t take my soul.
